Karma kitchen is a concept which revolves around the idea of having a meal and paying whatever amount you see fit , it is a concept coined on the basis of generosity and the money you leave is used to feed the next person that comes after you , this is a global concept and happens in many places across the world , I volunteered thrice at my local Karma kitchen on the first Sunday of every month. There are many jobs , and I experienced all of them , like waiting tables , doing dishes and cooking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LO-1 ( Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth) – I know how to cook but I had never had the opportunity to wait someones table and im not very good at doing the dishes , but slowly and steadily watching the other volunteers doing the work I got a grasp of it and was able to carry out the task effectively. Plus the people were very helpful and came with a positive attitude , due to everyone being a good communicator we were able to divide and take up on all the tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LO-2 (Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process)- The new skills I developed were like I said , waiting a table and washing the dishes , they were the challenged I undertook and overcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LO-4 (Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences) – I showed up at 3 consecutive karma kitchens even though my first one was very nerve wrecking as I was new , but through commitment and perseverance coupled with my sheer will to just show up got me through , I was shown the ropes and now I can successfully say I can very comfortably fill in any position in the kitchen or out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LO-5 (Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively) – working collaboratively we served up to 300 people at every karma kitchen and the benefit of this was people didn’t always have to wait for food as everything was very quick , the waiting , the cooking , the dish washing etc. that no part in the loop took time. so there was negativity in the atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My final takeaway from karma kitchen was it is a fun break one day once a month from everybody’s busy schedules to appreciate and be generous , its truly a life changing experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
