Due to lack of resources and finance due to multiple reasons, every day a lot of homeless and poor people sleep empty stomach. To give my best and reduce cost of food, I prepared homemade food for people in need. While, thinking of most liked food and food which is liked by everybody, I came across the idea of distributing samosa in the evening. Samosa’s are deep fried and often unhealthy, to avoid the same I air fried all the samosa’s so that this is an heavy option. Moreover, giving money would not be helpful because it might be used for other activities than something good. Hence, providing homemade food was a better choice.

LO 1 is Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth. Before this experience, I have never entered kitchen with the intention to cook food. This was the first time I cooked food my someone else and it was fun doing the same. I got to understand that it is very time taking to cook food even with the help of technology. I understood the efforts it takes to cook food every single day. I enjoyed the experience and think I would try to more often enter the kitchen to cook food for myself and for my family.

LO 2 is Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process. In the start of the experience I burned a whole batch of samosa as I did not focus on cooking and got busy in other activities. Later, I understood that it would need constant attention and I had to stand by the air frier for almost 4 hours to cook all the samosas. Moreover, I learned basic of cooking and understood the efforts and time it take to do the same, it was a fun and satisfactory experience for me.

LO 6 is Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance. Hunger is a global issue and every single day, tons of individuals sleep empty stomach due to financial issues. There are death history’s due to hunger and starvation for multiple days. To solve and help the Indian society, I took an initiative to donate all the funds gathered through the cricket tournament to give my contribution to solve the issue.

Through the funds gathered from organising cricket tournament, I cooked, packaged and distributed food among the homeless individuals in Surat city.
